The in-person circle carries a room, a set-up and a venue, so it carries a price. The on-line circle carries none of those, so it does not.

Before the doors open

The room, not the stage.

What happens in a circle

Nobody is put on the spot, and nothing is asked of you that you have not already agreed to by arriving.

  1. Arriving

    Doors open early. Tea, cushions, and enough time that you are not still travelling when we start.

  2. Settling

    A few minutes of breath and stillness. Long enough for the room to stop being a collection of strangers.

  3. Singing

    Simple lines, repeated, led on guitar or harmonium. Short enough to pick up in one pass. You are not expected to know them, and you are not expected to be good.

  4. Silence

    The part most people did not come for and most people remember. Sound stops; attention does not.

  5. Leaving

    No sharing round, no processing circle. You leave when you are ready.

What it is not

It is not a concert. There is no audience.

It is not therapy, and it is not a substitute for it.

It is not religious instruction. The words are old; nothing is asked of your beliefs.
